Ten Lenses Dream Project
1. 1. The issue is community engagement. The need for people to express themselves and connect in a healthy and meaningful way with others.
2. 2. The form is dreams, using dreams as an opportunity for connection and expression through interactive exercises where people improvise to dreams read aloud.
3. 3. The circumstances are the modern city of Los Angeles where isolation and social alienation can be an issue.
4. 4. The people who submit their dreams, and the audience/participators can be affected by this project.
5. 5. The project was created for people that artist knows, or has met recently focusing mainly on people within the creators' context, so CalArts, and Los Angeles.
6. 6. The participants would be engaged either by submitting a dream to be responded to, by responding to the dream, by reading the dream aloud, by providing sound effects.
7. 7. Resources: paper with dreams written on them, a computer, a projector, premiere pro, found footage archives.
8. 8. The project's objectives are for people to expand their awareness and recollection abilities of the unconscious processes that occur in the mind. To build connection with each other through the universal process of dreaming, to free the voice and body, and to have fun in a healthy and engaging way.
9. 9. This project has not been completed yet
10. 10. Guiding values: community is a good thing, people benefit from structured ways of engaging with one another, acting out dreams is fun, everyone dreams, art should be an action towards making the world a better place in and of itself. Such a project will strengthen the community. Isolation and alienation is a problem that this project addresses, as well as the exclusivity/reclusively of artistic practices.
